According to a story reported by, a bi-partisan sponsored bill is winding its way through Congress that would allow credit unions greater participation in the SBA small business loan programs.

The thinking is that since banks are still not lending amounts that many people think they should, that credit unions can fill the gap.  The bill would raise the amount a credit union can lend from 12.5% of assets to 27.5% of assets.

This in turn would help small businesses to grow and to generate additional jobs, etc.
