This is a classic “Did You Hear” posting.  Beginning in 2012, some Ford Focus vehicles will contain recycled plastic bottles from the Detroit Auto Show and the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The new Ford Focus Electric will use “Repreve” seating material, a blend of post-industrial and post-consumer waste.  Each vehicle will have the equivalent of 22 plastic bottles in its interior.   Overall, Ford estimates that the plan will eliminate 2 million plastic bottles from landfills.

It doesn’t seem like a lot, but Ford is undertaking other “green” initiatives.  Other Ford vehicles include soy foam seat cushions, castor oil foam in instrument panels and recycled resins for underbody systems.
According to Ford, 90% of their vehicles are recyclable and they are working to make that 100%.
