If you were anticipating the mobile version of Microsoft Office that many expected to be released with the release of Windows 8, you’re going to have to wait.

A Microsoft executive let it slip to a Czech technology news site that the mobile versions of Office will not be available until March 2013.  It was hoped that they would be available sooner, but that appears unlikely.

The Microsoft Corporate Office is not confirming the remarks made by Petr Bobek, who is a Microsoft Office portfolio manager in the Czech Republic.
Bobek said that larger companies can expect the software at the end of 2012, but that consumer will have to wait till next year.

But the Microsoft Corporate Communications Office later said that Bobek did not speak for the company.  Either way, through its actions, it’s clear that Microsoft’s Office for mobile is closer to a post 2013 delivery date, rather than a 2012 delivery date.
