According to a story in St. Louis Today, proponents of an effort to impose payday loan limits have given up the fight.  They were trying to cap interest rates for payday loans at 36% via referendum.

The group, Missourians for Responsible Lending said that they collected the required number of signatures, but the Secretary of State did not agree.  After an initial battle, the group decided to table their efforts for this year and concentrate their efforts in the future.

Another group, Give Missourians a Raise, also failed in their effort to get a referendum on the ballot which would have raised the state minimum wage from $7.25 to $8.25.
