United Healthcare has opened a 16,000 square foot “super store” in Flushing, Queens.  It has specially trained staff to aid residents in applying for over 15 types of state and federal social service programs, including Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage, New York State Food Stamps program, as well as heat and electrical subsidies.

Current enrolees can get assistance in explanation of health care benefits and help resolving claims.   The employees are multi-lingual as well.  This store is geared especially to the many Flushing Asian-American residents.

Billed as the nation's first comprehensive health benefits store, the store has computers and iPads available for visitors' use to obtain and print health-related information, and a “health screening kiosk” that measures blood pressure, pulse and body mass index. The insurer also will host a free series of education seminars on such topics as nutrition and exercise, disease management and financial planning.
