Called Galaxy Gear (I like it,) the Samsung smartwatch will be available in the U.S. beginning October 2013. It will be priced at $299 and will have a choice of six different band colors.  The watch has a 1.63 inch screen and is expected to be more of an extension of your smartphone than a stand-alone device.

So far, Samsung said that there are 70 apps for the phone with several being fitness apps measuring running distance and heart rate.  It comes with an 800-0Mhz processor and has 512 MB of RAM.  No apps yet from LinkedIn or Facebook.
Buyers may be concerned with battery life as Samsung said that the device should stay charged through one day of normal activity.  You already have to charge your phone, your tablet, maybe your laptop and now your watch.  That's a whole lot of charging.
