By now, we are familiar with the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.  Although, we are certainly still learning its many parts and their effect on us.  The law requires the new office (FIO) to conduct a study on modernizing and improving the system of US insurance regulation.
Specific areas of interest include:  The degree of national uniformity of state insurance regulation, systemic risk regulation with respect to insurance, the costs and benefits of potential regulation of insurance across lines of insurance, international coordination of insurance regulations, among others.
Undoubtedly new rules will result...may they be helpful.
