Hello average.  According to the National Retail Federation’s 2011 Survey, the average American will spend $704.18 on holiday shopping.  This is down from the figure of $718.98 of 2010, but will still represent an overall increase in spending of 2.8%.

The study also revealed that 46.7% will look for retailers’ deals on the internet and purchase merchandise online, which is up from last year’s figure of 43.9%.  The age cell most likely to purchase online is adults aged 25-34.

Additional food for thought…70.5% of tablet owners will research and shop this season.  E-bay additionally found that tablet users spend 50% more than PC users.  
15% of “Black Friday” searches will come from mobile devices.

So payday loan site operators out there – here’s an idea for holiday marketing  - the “$750 holiday payday loan.  The sprinkles on your holiday cookies.”  Or  “The ornament on top of your tree” or…well, you get the idea.
